About the event

The Center of Korean Culture in Poland in cooperation with the Śródmieście Culture House organizes meetings of the Korean Literature Club. Every last Saturday of the month we will meet to discuss a different work of Korean literature together.

In October, we invite you to a meeting dedicated to the book “Visiting the Father” by Shin Kyung-Sook
31 October, 3 p.m.
Admission is free

“Visiting My Father” is more than just a portrait of a single man; it is a touching story about humanity, family, war and loss. Two years after losing his daughter in a tragic accident, Hon finally returns home to the countryside to take care of his aging father. At first, he appears to her as a withdrawn and fragile, declining man, awkward, but kind to his own daughter. However, one day, Hon comes across meticulously hidden letters that uncover the truth about her father's past and reconstruct the history of the entire family.
Consumed by her own grief, Hon was blind to her father's vulnerability and the fragility of her family. Uncovering secret after secret, Hon approaches him, discovering that he is more complex than she ever thought. What a woman learns about her father helps her understand the enormity of his sacrifice and heroism for the whole country.
