Teachers' Club: Bez manka. How cycling is changing Warsaw

During the March meeting, we will visit the Wola Museum to take part in a curatorial tour of the exhibition Bez manki. How the bicycle is changing Warsaw. We will look at the bicycle as a popular means of transport and at the same time an object accompanying social transformations, such as the emancipation of women. The bicycle gives greater freedom of movement, serves work, sports competition and entertainment, and is also part of the discussion about how, for the sake of ecology, we want to move around the city and what kind of Warsaw we need.

In conclusion, we will get acquainted with the biography of the subject as a method of working with students. We will examine how, starting from one seemingly ordinary thing, we will discover larger historical and social processes. Because the history of objects is not only about dates, inventors and changing technologies, but also the story of how things change our lives — and we use them to change the world around us.

The Teachers' Club is for a meeting of teachers who combine visiting exhibitions, workshops and talks about the heritage of Warsaw with exchange of experiences and inspirations for teaching work.
