During the December meeting we will visit the Warsaw Silver and Plating Cabinet and the Clothing Office. Through curated stories, we will examine objects in which the customs of Warsaw's elites and wealthy bourgeoisie of the 19th century are reflected. Silverware, elements of clothing and personal trifles will help us to look at the culture of the table, fashion, the principles of savoir vivre and the conventions governing relationships between people.
The guide to this world will be “Doll” by Bolesław Prus. We will consider what — apart from money — Wokulski needed to enter the world of Izabela Łęcka. What did you need to know, what rules to know and what skills to possess in order to be considered “your own”? What customs and social codes are important today?
The Teachers' Club is for a meeting of teachers who combine visiting exhibitions, workshops and talks about the heritage of Warsaw with exchange of experiences and inspirations for teaching work.
Registration form: forms.office.com
The meeting will take place in the Warsaw Museum (Old Town Square 42). We start at 16:30 in the workshop and educational room on the ground floor (entrance from the museum shop).
