Poetic Conversation Club

How much truth does it take to write about yourself? And how much can you come up with?

In the upcoming season of the Poetic Conversation Club, we will deal with the “new sincerity” - literature that takes material from life: from memory, family history, experiences of the body, love, illness and work, from old notes, photographs and ordinary objects that for some reason are important to us throughout our lives.

We'll be checking out what happens to the experience when it hits the text. What to choose from a true story? What to shift, distort, keep silent, or invent? Is it possible to be honest in a mask? Can someone else's opinion tell us better than our own?

During classes and as homework, poems, short prose and microessays will be created. We will mix genres, work with photography, document, memory and the heard voice. We will also look at the texts of contemporary authors who create literary “I” in different ways. Honesty in literature has its own construction. And it is this structure that we will try to disassemble into parts, and then build in our own way. We invite you!

Hosted by Sylwia Głuszak and Joanna Mueller — poets and instructors with many years of experience.

Workshop meetings take place on selected Mondays from 17.30 to 19.00, in the Arnold Buffet (entrance from Sewerynów Street, through the Chamber Stage). Tickets are 30 PLN.
