About the event

The Poalski family is a fifteen-member orchestra formed by three generations of musicians. Its history dates back to 1991, when Jan, Karol, Marcin and Mateusz Poalscy recorded the first album with carols, many performers of the current line-up were not yet in the world at that time.

Poalski's concerts are distinguished by their enormous energy, richness of instruments and stylistic freedom. In the author's arrangements, jazz, classical music, Polish folklore and big band sounds meet, and well-known carols and pastorals gain fresh, often daring interpretations.

Virtuoso solo parts, improvisations and changing combinations of instruments create a dynamic, emotional show. Despite the momentum and high level of performance, the concert retains the character of family, joint music-making, which for years has remained the hallmark of the Poalski.

This is a unique orchestra made up of three generations of musicians with the same name. When the brothers Jan, Karol, Marcin and Mateusz recorded their first album with carols in 1991, several performers of the current line-up were not yet in the world. The program from this album was recorded by TVP, and their carols were permanently on radio playlists.

Today Poalscy is a well-known brand on the Polish music scene. They carry out their own projects, compose for other performers, create popular songs, but also elaborate forms of jazz and classical music. They have to their credit film music, television shows and numerous concert projects.

On stage, the 15-member line-up impresses with energy, virtuosity and extraordinary stylistic freedom. Many of them are muli-instrumentalists, hence the sound of the orchestra is constantly changing, and in daring arrangements jazz, classical music, Polish folklore and big band meet. Brave solo parts, improvisations and surprising combinations of instruments give the familiar carols and pastorals freshness without taking away their original character.

It is the stylistic freedom, exuberance and at the same time the performance perfection that make the concert far from predictable, traditional caroling. Along with moments of focus and emotion, there is spontaneity, humor and enormous stage vitality. However, what particularly captivates listeners are the authentic family relationships and the atmosphere of joint music — thanks to them, even a large concert retains something of the character of a home meeting at the instruments.
