The December concert of the Lublin Philharmonic will be dedicated to works related to the Christmas holidays. The program will include Polish carols and traditional songs from different countries and cultural circles.
Polish Christmas carols are an extremely rich part of our musical heritage. Many of them have been performed continuously for generations, both during the liturgy and in homes and on the stage. Their diversity — from simple folk melodies to elaborate choral and orchestral arrangements — makes them an important part of the Christmas repertoire. During the event, the native tradition will be juxtaposed with Christmas carols and carols known in other parts of Europe and the world. This will show how many times the music tells about the mystery of the Nativity and how many melodies, despite their different origins, have permanently entered the international concert repertoire.
The songs will be performed by a symphony orchestra and choir. The program will feature both traditional arrangements and contemporary arrangements using the full capabilities of a large executive team. In addition to calm, more intimate songs, there will also be compositions of a solemn and elevated character. This concert will be an opportunity to hear well-known melodies in a symphonic setting and to get to know the Christmas repertoire derived from different musical traditions. Polish Christmas carols together with songs from all over the world will create a common multicolored story about the mystery of the Nativity of the Lord.
