This Wednesday, October 28, at 5 p.m. in the auditorium of the National Education Commission in Krakow, there will be a unique meeting with Lech Majewski, an outstanding director, a master of cinema, a member of the American Film Academy. His film “12 images of slavery” will be shown, in which the author dialogues with Jacek Malczewski's painting.
The next meeting of the Film Academy of the NNW Festival will take place under the sign of the work of two exceptional artists. A film by one of the most important contemporary Polish directors Lech Majewski entitled “12 images of enslavement” (2025) will be screened.
It is inspired by the work of the outstanding symbolist painter Jacek Malczewski, known for his beautiful, allegorical paintings dedicated to the fate of the Polish nation in captivity, the idea of the resurrection of the homeland, love and death.
The author revived characters from the painter's works and created a 12-page visual story about the history of Poland in the last 200 years. Its protagonists march for decades struggling with further enslavements - political, social, and - already quite contemporary - consumerism and spiritual marasmus.
The Academy program includes a film screening, a meeting with the director and a discussion led by Dr. Paweł Nowakowski, a film scientist from UKEN University.
The event will take place next Wednesday, October 28 at 5 p.m. in the auditorium of the University of the National Education Commission in Krakow, Podchorążych 2 Street. Free admission.
The organizers of the Film Academy of the NNW Festival are the AK Museum from Krakow and the Association “Scena Kultury” from Warsaw.
