What do we eat to make our body and heart warmer? The Czechs, for example, eat kulajda — a thick soup with mushrooms. During the workshop with the artist, Jagoda Dobecka, we will cook this dish together and talk about what comfort is and what meals bring it.
The culinary workshop accompanies the publication of Jagoda Dobecka “Kuchně pod čtyřlístkem” — a cookbook devoted to the phenomenon of comfort food in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, with special emphasis on the Czech culinary context. The publication uses the form of the four-leaf clover and its stem to describe the different dimensions of comfort associated with food.
The first part of the workshop will be devoted to talking about comfort and its place in everyday life, as well as about food, which gives a feeling of security and envelopment. The reference point will be autumn — a time of coolness, shorter days and the need for warmth. In the practical part, we will prepare kulajda together — a traditional Czech mushroom and dill soup with potatoes, egg, sour cream and a sour note of vinegar. We will end our autumn meeting with this filling and warming meal.
