FINAL CONCERT with RIABINA folk ensemble

We invite you to a unique concert concluding the workshop conducted by the Riabin Team on the occasion of the 9th Cycle “At the Crossing of Cultures”.
This will be a special evening, during which the participants of the workshop will have the opportunity to present the results of joint work to the audience and perform on one stage with the team.

During the concert we will hear traditional Old Believer songs — multi-voice, performed without accompaniment of instruments, in accordance with the centuries-old tradition.
RIABINA is a unique group associated with the community of Old Believers — Old Believers, who found themselves on Polish lands at the end of the 17th century, after leaving Russia due to disagreement with liturgical reforms and changes in religious tradition.

The ensemble performs in a dialect of the Russian language close to the Novograd-Pskov dialect of the Russian language, former wedding songs, ballads and processions, as well as other songs of Russian pedigree. According to its tradition, RIABINA does not use musical instruments — even the old dances and processions take place exclusively to the accompaniment of singing.
