Moderated, guided tours of the New Music Foundation Quartludium's curatorial concerts were created out of the need to break the barrier between new music and the public, which often perceives it as hermetic. The Open Stage will introduce the audience to contemporary sounds, show their diversity and context in an atmosphere of encounter with the music, artists and ideas behind a given piece.

The concert of the Kwartludium ensemble will be an opportunity to meet contemporary music in a format reminiscent of a curatorial tour. The artists will not only be limited to the performance of the works, but will also talk about their context and the ideas behind their creation.

The program will include compositions by Tadeusz Wielecki, Nikoleta Burzyńska, Michał Dobrzyński, Peter Helmut Lang, Jakub Królikowski and Zoltán Almási.

The titles themselves — Multiple Image, Follow the White Rabbit, Metallurgy or Echo of a Blow on Dry Common Spruce in Rycerka Górna — show how different inspirations modern artists are guided by.

The quartet consists of Dagna Sadkowska, Piotr Nowicki, Michał Górczyński and Paweł Nowicki. Violin, piano, clarinets and percussion instruments give the ensemble very wide sonic possibilities.

The idea of the concert is to show that new music does not have to be confined to the hermetic world of specialists — it can be explored in the same way as contemporary art, gradually discovering the language, context and way of thinking of the author.

QUARTLUDIUM

It consists of: Dagna Sadkowska — violin, Piotr Nowicki — piano, Michał Górczyński — clarinet and bass clarinet and Paweł Nowicki — percussion instruments. Since the beginning of its activity, the Quartet has focused on the performance of recent music, including works composed specifically for its characteristic instrumental composition. The ensemble's achievements include several dozen Polish and world premieres, and an important place in its repertoire is also occupied by improvisation and graphic and intuitive compositions.

The Quartet has performed in Europe, Asia, the United States and Australia, performing at Warsaw Autumn, Unsound in New York, Beijing Modern Music Festival, Daegu Contemporary Music Festival, Svensk Musikvar in Stockholm, Klang in Copenhagen, Musica Viva in Lisbon, Sacrum Profanum and Audio-Art in Krakow, and Musica Polonica Nova in Wrocław.

In recent seasons, the band has been intensively developing international, educational and phonographic projects.
