Concert in Jazz Club 69: JAKUB KLIMIUK QUINTET

Jazz Club 69 presents a concert by the band JAKUB KLIMIUK QUINTET composed of: Jakub Klimiuk — guitar, Kasper Rietkerk — saxophone, Scottie Thompson — piano, Kinzan — double bass, Luke McCarthy — drums.

Linked to the London jazz scene, guitarist and composer Jakub Klimiuk is taking his international quintet on tour, presenting new material described by The Guardian as “a combination of the uncompromising modern New York scene with the impressive style of Scandinavian avant-garde”.

The band creates a sound full of tension and energy, in which precisely constructed compositions, full of expressive melodies and changing textures, combine with bold improvisation. “Music that engages and transcends genre boundaries,” according to UK Jazz News.

The quintet debuted at the London Jazz Festival 2022 and quickly established itself on the UK stage, performing regularly at legendary clubs such as Vortex Jazz Club and PizzaExpress Live Soho, and collaborating with leading musicians including saxophonist Mark Lockheart (Kenny Wheeler, Norma Winstone) and vibraphonist Jonny Mansfield (Chris Potter), Kit Downes).

The band is made up of representatives of the young generation of jazz from London and Amsterdam.
