Wajda concert. Who promised us this land?

On November 21, 2026, at 19:00, a unique event will take place in the EC1 Machine Hall - the Wajda concert. Who promised us this land? The event is organized by the National Centre for Film Culture in Łódź on the occasion of the celebration of the Year of Andrzej Wajda. It will be a show on the border between theater and film, which will remind of the importance of music in the work of Andrzej Wajda.

During the concert, renowned artists of the Polish scene will present the most inspiring works live and take us on a musical journey in the footsteps of the Master. The director's work will become the starting point for a multimedia show, combining film music with stage narration. Mariusz Grzegorzek, Polish theatre and film director, is responsible for the artistic concept and direction of the show.

The program of the event will include jazz compositions by Krzysztof Komeda from “Innocent Wizards”, songs from “Brzezina” inspired by folk music, orchestral fragments of Wojciech Kilar's music or Chochoł's song from “Wesela”. Selected works will be presented in new and often surprising arrangements prepared by the creators inspired by the artistic energy of the original works. Artists of the Polish music scene such as Maria Peszek, the Coals band or the duo of Maja Krzeszcz and Wojciech Krzak, as well as actor Maciej Musiałowski will appear on the stage. Legends of Polish cinema, who collaborated with Andrzej Wajda - Olgierd Łukaszewicz and Emilia Krakowska, as well as students of the Lodz Film School, were also invited to participate in the project. Together, the artists will create an atmosphere of intergenerational voice, touching the past, present and future at the same time. The show will be complemented by a visual setting in the form of large format projections, which will consist of fragments of films, photographs and archival materials.
