The AMKP Department of Composition and the Association of Polish Composers Branch in Krakow invite you to the concert Cracow Duo: Kalinowski & Szlezer on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the band's existence.

About the event

The AMKP Department of Composition and the Association of Polish Composers Branch in Krakow invite you to the concert Cracow Duo: Kalinowski & Szlezer on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the band's existence.

The ensemble consists of two musicians, educators of the Krakow Academy: cellist Jan Kalinowski and pianist Marek Szlezer. In addition to the classical repertoire, the band has in its repertoire the latest works, which it presents on the stages of the whole world. Musicians constantly collaborate with contemporary composers, mobilizing them and encouraging them to create works for their duet.

This year, Cracow Duo received the Annual ZKP Award “for 25 years of outstanding artistic activity, promoting Polish contemporary music around the world and motivating composers to creative work”. The award ceremony took place on 23.09.2026 in Warsaw. ZKP Branch in Krakow, together with the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music, would like to celebrate this wonderful anniversary with their performance in their hometown of Krakow.

The concert program will include compositions performed for the first time in Poland: “Somewhere in the Wenatchee Mountains” by Michał Pawełek, “Ugly Duckling” by Maciej Jabłoński, “Fantasia elegiaca” by Krzysztof Meyer and “Mindscape No. 2” by Marcel Chyrzyński. There will also be a world premiere of Jadwiga Sarnecka's recently discovered work “Inpression”. In addition, there will be compositions by Fryderyk Chopin, Aleksander Tansman, Zygmunt Stojowski, Wojciech Widłak and Astor Piazzolla.

Admission is free.
