Omasta follows new roads, without abandoning those already worn. Rooted in jazz, but deeply immersed in hip-hop and street culture, they create a bold fusion of tradition and innovation. The band's name, Omasta, comes from the regional Krakow dialect and means “fat added to a dish for taste”. This is an apt metaphor — their music is dense, saturated with heavy drums and deep bass, on which melodic parts of piano, trumpet, saxophone and flute are built.
The band formed in Krakow for several years, and the official launch of Omasty took place in February 2024 during a tribute to J Dilla at the iconic Paul's Boutique. Since then, the group has made its presence on the Polish and European scene more and more clearly, performing at prestigious festivals and in renowned clubs such as the London Jazz Festival, OFF Festival, Gent Jazz Festival, The Jazz Cafe and Ronnie Scott's in London or AB in Brussels.
Omasta collaborates with artists shaping the contemporary sound of jazz and independent music, including Madlib, Aquiles Navarro (Irreversible Entanglements), Marysia Osu, Tenderlonious and the legend of Polish free jazz Leszek Żądło. Their concert tributes to hip-hop icons further cemented the band's reputation, blending jazz improvisation with the spirit and heritage of beat culture.
In October 2025, Omasta released her debut album on Astigmatic Records. The album was very well received by critics and was included in the recaps of the year and “best of” lists prepared by influential media and stage curators such as Somewhere Soul and Tina Edwards, which further strengthened the international position of the band.
