About the event

During this holiday, without leaving the neo-Renaissance building of Zachęta — the National Gallery of Art, we visit distant and quite close corners of the world, trying to reach their deep truth through sounds and music. In June we went to the rich musical world of West Africa, whose global symbol became the griots, hereditary masters of sound and poetic art.

July will be dominated by archaic music from Poland — resounding in the mysterious Kingdom of Kayaks, separated from the outside world by dangerous swamps, but also in the heart of the Brazilian jungle. And since we have already seen the pefyfera of the former Portuguese empire, we will take part in the mysterious rite of capoeira, the charms and sounds of which sailed across the Atlantic from the areas of modern Angola.
