Korea Independent: The World of Love [OmeU] South Korea, 2025, directed by Gaeun Yoon with Subin Seo, Hyaejin Chang, 119 min
The popular 18-year-old class representative Lee Ju-in is the only one at her school who refuses to sign a petition against the release of a convicted child sex offender. Based on its main character, who experienced sexual violence within the family as a child, the film sheds light on the expectations and prejudices with which those affected are confronted. The starting point of the film is the question of why, despite the everyday nature of sexual violence and trauma, there are so few opportunities to talk about it.
