In the “Cosmic House” Lina Lapelytė — known to the Polish audience for the operas “Sun & Sea” (Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale) and “Have a Good Day!” — makes visible what is seemingly insignificant and insignificant. Ordinary, everyday activities, private rituals, attempts to decipher the signs that the world may give us, and personal breakthroughs that are difficult to notice from afar. All this proves to be an important building block for the metaphorical cosmic home, which can only satisfy our need for rooting and security if we accept that nothing is permanent, nothing is forever. There are no grand narratives, classic dialogue scenes or spectacular biographies — there are fragments of memories, flows of thought and attempts to find some principles in the complexity of the world.

The musical nature of the performance and the work with the voice — not necessarily virtuosic — allow us to touch what is most fragile and sensitive in us. Set in motion bodies, voices, scenography and even lights create together an environment that, being in constant motion, paradoxically allows one to stop for a moment and look at the fleeting moments that are the real content of life.
Three pieces from the show were commissioned by the Jencks Foundation. “Cosmic House” is being created in parallel with Lina Lapelytė's exhibition “In the Dark, We Play”, commissioned by the same foundation and shown at The Cosmic House in London from April 9 to December 19, 2025.
note
The show is played on a rotating stage.Flickering lights appear.
