Hungary has occupied a special place on the map of Central Europe for centuries. Their history, language and culture have been shaped at the junction of many traditions, creating a phenomenon that fascinates both researchers and travelers. During the meeting with Prof. Michał Német, Head of the Department of Hungarian Philology at the Jagiellonian University, we will talk about what constitutes the uniqueness of Hungarian identity, the importance of language in community building and how modern Hungarians perceive their own history and place in Europe. It will also be an opportunity to reflect on Polish-Hungarian relations, mutual ideas and the role of culture in building bridges between nations. The meeting will invite participants to discover Hungary beyond stereotypes — through literature, art, history and the everyday experiences of the inhabitants of the country on the Danube.
