Krallice blows VEGA round with powerful black metal
Based on black metal, Krallice has moved far beyond the confines of the genre and created its own experimental sound.
The New York-based band is the guarantor of an innovative metal universe in which complex compositions fuse together in a perfect balance between chaos and control.
Since releasing their self-titled debut album in 2008, Krallice have expanded their catalogue through releases such as Years Past Matter (2012), Go Be Forgotten (2017) and Inorganic Rites (2024). Throughout the discography, they have just cemented their reputation as metal musicians who are not afraid to redefine their sound. This is precisely what Pitchfork emphasized, in their review of the album Krallice (2008), where they wrote:
“From their first note, it's obvious how unlike most other black metal they are. Barr's agonized yell isn't the usual witchy scream. The guitar tone nods to black metal's trebly buzz, but it also has rich midrange. Instead of paper-thin walls of cymbals, these drums have heft, blessed by a naturalistic analog recording.”
Krallice was formed in 2007 when Colin Marston and Mick Barr began working on a black metal record without a firm release plan. However, the band quickly found its own expression and the project developed into a visionary band. Later, drummer Lev Weinstein and bassist Nicholas McMaster joined.
Now the experienced band is ready to take on the Ideal Bar, and on October 21, the audience can experience the full force of Krallice's metal.
