Kroke - The Best Of

A cross-sectional concert that gathers the most important songs and sounds of the band — from lyrical, chamber moments to dynamic and rhythmic compositions. It is the original music of internationally recognized artists from Krakow, growing from the tradition of klezmer, jazz and inspiration from different parts of the world. This is a great opportunity to hear Kroke's repertoire in its most natural form: live, in direct contact with the audience.

The band Kroke (in Yiddish: Kraków) has been formed since 1992 by three friends: Tomasz Kukurba, Jerzy Bawoł and Tomasz Lato. They are graduates of the Krakow Academy of Music and artists who from the beginning were looking for their own language of expression in contact with tradition. They started with Kazimierz energy and klezmer inspirations, but over time their sound began to absorb the world: ethnic motifs from different sides, jazz freedom and contemporary sensibility. The main thing remains one thing: author's improvisation, thanks to which each concert has its own, unique course.

The history of the band is as remarkable as their style: delighted with the Kroke concert, Steven Spielberg invited the musicians to Jerusalem for the Survivors Reunion celebration, and Peter Gabriel brought them to the UK for the WOMAD festival. The track “The Secrets of The Life Tree” went to David Lynch's film Inland Empire, and a collaboration with Nigel Kennedy resulted in the album East Meets East. Kroke has toured and recorded with many outstanding artists and orchestras in Poland and abroad, remaining one of the most recognizable Polish bands on the world stage.
