“The King of Comedy” is a universal story about the fate of a man — an artist entangled in the modes of Polish history and the price of laughter. Adolf Dymsza, known as Dodek, embodies the complex identity of the Warsaw comedian: brilliant, popular, adored, but also judged. We invite you to a performance about memory, justice, dignity and how quickly the world forgets those who made it laugh. In the title role — twinly similar to Adolf Dymsza — Dawid Dziarkowski.
Wojciech Ogrodziński's “King of Comedy” intertwines time and space plans: a nursing home, occupied Warsaw, a theatrical dressing room and a stage.
In the center is the figure of a comedian — legendary but forgotten.
A comedian who, in times of contempt, fought for his life not with a sword, but with humor, because Adolf Dymsza is not only the king of comedy — he is a symbol of an actor torn between the need to laugh and the burden of survival. Dawid Dziarkowski received an acting distinction for his role as Adolf Dymsza in the play “The King of Comedy” at the 66th Kalisz Theatre Meetings — Festival of Acting Art.
