The most outstanding figures of Polish athletics. Gold medal winners. World record breakers. The stage will include runner Irena Szewińska — a seven-time Olympic medalist, Władysław Komar, one of the best Polish ball throwers and Janusz Kusociński, winner of the Olympic 10,000m run in 1932.
“The Queen of Sports” combines their fates in a polyphonic story about the need to cross your own boundaries and live with the full intensity of all shades, including painful ones. It is also a show about time, measured from start to finish. Years to the next Games, months of rehabilitation, hours of training, fractions of a second deciding to win.
The action rushes across time and conventions — slowing down in moments of poetic reverie, to surprise in a moment with a perverse sketch, and then accelerate along with energetic music.
Who will win the gold and who will join the club of losers? Who was left at home with a passport injury? What do you think about standing on the top step of the podium? How many flavors of ice cream can you taste in the Olympic Village? Will you be able to break another record before...?
