The show explores the intimate relationship between mother and daughter - a bond that is the most original and at the same time one of the most complicated. It is a story of love and closeness that can be a trap, and of trying to find one's own identity in the shadow of another person.
Two women — a mother and a daughter — trapped in a shared living room meet on the stage. They sit in old armchairs in front of the TV, although the TV, as well as the father - was never there. Or maybe there is no living room at all, and the action basically takes place everywhere and nowhere, in a world suspended between memory, fantasy and everyday life. Mother and daughter love to laugh and cry together. At least that's how my mother sees it.
Helena Urbańska's debut drama confronts the themes of femininity, corporeality, sexual identity, stagnation and puberty. In this fantasy reality, all gripes are allowed - even those that arouse fear and disgust. The show raises questions about the limits of love and how to distinguish care from violence.
The play is based on the author's drama “Man who wants to understand love, that is, love your neighbor as”, whose performative reading was realized last year as part of the program HORIZONS.
The show features scenes of nudity, sexual scenes, vulgar language, and dynamic lighting changes.
