At the exhibition, the author presents a selection of his paintings from four painting cycles realized in recent years. Its title, as well as the titles of the exhibited cherry series, come from the name of the first book of the Torah, which deals with the beginnings of the history of the world and of mankind. Krzysztof Bartnik's paintings, in his conception, would be a painterly reflection on the beginning and the process. Both the world on the micro and macrocosmic scale, as well as the image — the world brought into existence by the artist through the means of painting. The author, in his compositions, uses elementary geometric forms and basic color qualities. Subjects them to transformations according to simple rules. Still, his image becomes an open space for endless imaging possibilities. Krzysztof Bartnik chooses watercolor as the medium that, among other painting techniques, is the least loaded with matter. He uses it in such a way that it does not betray the tool used or the effort put into the implementation.
Krzysztof Bartnik, born in 1964, is a painter and educator. A graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Diploma in painting under the direction of Prof. Stanisław Borysowski in 1988. Since 1989 he has been working at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. Currently, he is a professor at the Department of Drawing and Painting of the Faculty of Art. He has presented his work in numerous solo exhibitions (57 — Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia) and nearly 200 group presentations (Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czech Republic, France, Lithuania, Macedonia, Mexico, Germany, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine, Hungary, Italy). He has participated in many outdoor and art symposia in the country and abroad. His paintings are in private and institutional collections in Poland and abroad. He has curated a number of exhibitions in the Lublin artistic community.
