WHO KILLED IN KONITZVILLE (i.e. the city as a body of the collective unconscious) A performance inspired by the novel by Artur Grysiak and Rafał Matusz — “KONITZVILLE”

Who Killed in Konitzville is not so much a crime story as a psychodrama of the collective unconscious. It's a spectacle in which the actual murder is merely a flashpoint—a moment in which what has been shrouded in darkness for years finds an outlet. Not in the individual, but in the community. In the city.

The murder of a young man, Ernest Winter, becomes a moment of initiation. An inconceivable event shatters the order of everyday life. What was previously only a hunch becomes suddenly clear: distrust, contempt, anti-Semitism, gossip, hostility. These are not new feelings—they were there. They slept. They waited. Shadows.

In Who Killed in Konitzville, the city ceases to be a space of community and becomes a battleground — not necessarily between facts, but between fears. The archetype of victim and executioner, innocence and scapegoat, holy city and cursed city is ignited.

Scenically, we follow the metaphor of the city as a psychic organism. What's on the surface — the market, the streets, the houses, the relationships — is just the tip. Underneath, something much older pulsates: collective instincts, the language of myths, emotions passed down from generation to generation.

The performance features: gunshot bang, profanity, cigarettes/nicotine, interaction with the audience, worldview issues, discrimination,
