The art of ancient Greece had a great influence on Western culture. The Greeks became famous as the creators of excellent temples, black and red-figure vessels, as well as sculptures, which were copied over the centuries in an attempt to catch up with the ancient ideal. Greek artists emphasized harmony, proportion and beauty, whose influence on European art continues to this day.
