Public lectures from Aarhus University With Klaus Mølmer, Professor of Quantum Physics, Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen

About the event

About the lectureGet an introduction to the world of quantum physics and hear about the new “quantum revolution” that develops technologies based on the most paradoxical quantum phenomena. Learn about how quantum computers work and what they can be used for.

The microscopic world of atoms and molecules is described by quantum physics. The quantum world described by quantum physics is very different from the phenomena of our daily lives: for example, atomic particles appear to be in several places at once, and measurements on them always give random results.

Quantum physics revolutionized physics at the beginning of the 20th century and shook many physicists in their worldview, but its predictions have since been tested with great precision in all areas of the world of physics and chemistry.

In the lecture you will get an introduction to quantum physics and to a number of existing technologies, as well as to perspectives for revolutionary future technologies that work precisely because of the quantum physical behavior of atomic particles.

Both in Denmark and internationally, since the 1990s, large sums of money have been invested in the race to develop and exploit quantum computers that use atomic quantum states to calculate many numbers at the same time.

In the lecture you will learn how far we have come in the construction of quantum computers and what they will be used for when they become fully functional.

PraktiskThe event is livestreamed live from Aarhus University.

There is free admission, no registration.
