Academic Theater “Kyiv Modern-Ballet” is one of the most expressive theaters of contemporary choreography in Ukraine, which for more than 20 years has been creating original ballet performances, known in Europe and the world. The theater was conceived as an author's, in which the repertoire and artistic priorities are formed around the staging of the choreographer — Radu Poklitar. Thanks to this, “Kyiv Modern-Ballet” has a recognizable creative style and is distinguished by bold work with familiar motifs, new stage solutions and expressive language of choreography.
Referring to classic literary, musical and theatrical themes, the theater offers a modern and intellectually expressive choreographic interpretation of them.
Radu Poklitaru — founder and chief choreographer of the theater, Honored Artist of Ukraine, laureate of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine, People's Artist of Moldova, laureate of international competitions. Over the years of his creative activity, he created more than 40 one-act and full-performance ballets, which were presented on stages in different countries of the world.
Radu Poklitar's creative style is distinguished by dramatic precision, bold redefinition of familiar plots and ability to speak about freedom, memory, choice and inner strength of man through an intense and emotionally saturated choreographic form.
