and how we've sung it through time
Denmark's leading disseminators of the Danish song treasure and community song tradition, Katrine Muff and Mathias Hammer, are launching a new concert format that pays tribute to songs we have sung with through generations and songs we sing along to today. From Grundtvig to Medina, from the hymnbook to pop hits. With them are the acclaimed string ensemble Who Killed Bambi, who will bring the music to life with grand harmonies and moving compositions.
As a TV and radio presenter, Katrine Muff has been at the forefront of a sea of programmes with music dissemination as a focal point. As a singer and songwriter, she has five songs included in the Højskolesangbogen, which includes “Fortabt er jeg”, which she has written in collaboration with Stine Pilgaard.
Mathias Hammer is a pianist as well as a TV and radio presenter on DR and has participated in numerous programmes with classical music and culture at the centre such as 'The Reviewers', 'Hammers Komponister' and 'The Classical Music Quiz'. Together, in their weekly radio program 'The Songbook with Muff and Hammer', they have insisted for several seasons on a much wider and more curious song repertoire than in the traditional national community song.
Audiences can expect an evening withsongs that have shaped us, songs that speak to time and songs we didn't know we needed. The pair of friends bubble with a commitment and a joy to the music, which is so contagious when they invite the audience to sing along to the Danish songs.
