On a remote windswept island off the coast of Chilean Patagonia, Silvia takes in an abandoned female and gives her the name Yuri — the one she would have chosen for her coveted daughter. Their extraordinary bond fills the void left by an unfulfilled desire for motherhood, but also evokes painful childhood memories from which Silvia has tried to escape for years.
