This undisputed tearjerker will be seen by Polish cinemas directly from the famous Arena di Verona. The new production of “Wandering” — because this is how the title should be translated — prepared in 2021, featured international opera stars: the magnificent Bulgarian soprano Sonya Yoncheva and the hit Italian tenor Vittorio Grigolo, who debuted alongside Luciano Pavarotti at the age of 13. The plot of Verdi's work is based on the famous romance “Camellia Lady” by Alexandre Dumas son. This is the touching story of the dying Violetta, a French courtesan who, out of love for her beloved Alfred, a young man from the upper classes, is ready to sacrifice the last moments of her happiness. Today it is hard to believe, but the premiere of this opera in 1853 ended in a total flop. The audience did not like that the main heroine was made by the composer to them a contemporary figure, in addition, a fallen woman, who in the world of bourgeois hypocrisy turned out to be the only honest and noble person. The action of the Verona show was carried forward 30 years, to the Belle Époque, precisely to the period of the Paris World Exhibition of 1889. Traditional decorations and costumes were combined with modern technology.
