Labyrinth of fauna | Show on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the premiere

The mystical, unforgettable and timelessly phenomenal Labyrinth of the Fauna directed by Guillermo del Toro is our flagship show of this year's Halloween in Space under the slogan Labyrinths of Horror. Little Ophelia arrives at the home of her mother's new husband, Captain Vidal. It is difficult for a girl to endure the severity of her stepfather. By chance, Ophelia discovers a mysterious labyrinth in the garden. There she will meet Faun, a fairytale creature who will recognize in her the princess of a magical land that is in danger of extinction. However, the girl faces 3 murderous tasks that will test her immortality. In time, cruelty will reign over the entire real world.

The premiere screening at the 59th IFF in Cannes ended with a 22-minute standing ovation. The film was liked by critics, with several even declaring it 2006 film of the year, and some noted the film's anti-fascist tone, which gave it extra value. The film received three BAFTA awards, including for Best Foreign Language Film, seven Spanish Goya Awards (including Best Screenplay and Best Special Effects), and a number of other honors. The painting was the official Mexican Oscar nominee for Best Foreign Language Film and received six Oscar nominations for 2006, which resulted in three statuettes — for scenography and interior decoration, for cinematography and for characterization. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of its release, a restored version of the film, which the director himself watched over, returns to cinemas.
