The founders of the ensemble are Alina Jurczyszyn, a graduate of the Academy of Theatre Practices “Gardzienice”, and Kamila Bigus — a graduate of the Academy of Music in Gdańsk and the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. Among the most famous songs performed by female singers are “Sztoi pa moru” (orig. What is more — Tam, na morzu) and “Lecieli żurauli” (orig. They came to the jury — the cranes flew).
The Song Laboratory team includes seven singers from Tri-City: Alina Jurczyszyn, Kamila Bigus, Lila Bosowska, Iwona Bajger, Magda Jurczyszyn-Turło, Alina Klebba and Karolina Stawiszyńska. The artists perform traditional songs from Ukraine, Poland, Bulgaria, Belarus, Serbia, Albania, Bosnia, Georgia, Scandinavia and other countries.
The album “Rasti” was nominated for the Fryderyk Award in the category of album of the year — music of the world. On the other hand, the album “Puste noce” is a collection of the most interesting Polish and Ukrainian funeral songs, such as “Wyletiela Dusza z Tiela” or “Prijdzie Panie Zagin”. The band has collaborated with, among others, Kayah, Karolina Czarnecka and Łukasz (L.U.C.) Rostkovsky. In addition to its musical activities, the Song Laboratory is engaged in theatrical performances, music workshops and field research.
The Song Laboratory refers to folklore, roots, nature and willingly reaches for improvisation. Therefore, songs performed by female vocalists sound best live. Book your concert tickets to travel to an ancient magical world!
