dir. Sebastian Chondrokostas | Greece, Poland | 2026
We invite you to the Lower Silesian premiere of the film “Lachtara. Longing” directed by Sebastian Chondrokostas. DCF is a co-producer of this Polish-Greek film, which combines personal family history with the experience of migration and the memory of Greek refugees who found refuge in Lower Silesia after the civil war.
“Lachtara. Longing” tells the story of a Greek father and his adult son, a Pole of Greek origin, who meet in Athens after years of separation. After the death of his ex-wife and mother, they have to go together to Wałbrzych to take care of the family apartment. The journey through Europe becomes an opportunity for them to confront the past and try to rebuild a lost bond.
The story of the heroes refers to the fate of Greek refugees who in 1949, fleeing the civil war, came to Poland. Many of them settled in Lower Silesia, where the Greek community still lives today. The film addresses the theme of identity, memory and the connection with the place of origin, showing how the history of subsequent generations influences family relationships.
The film stars Filip Pławiak, Branko Đurić and Sarina Farhadi. The director of the film is Sebastian Chondrokostas, who wrote the script together with Mirosław Bork. The author of the photos is Piotr Wojtowicz. The photos were made, among others, in Wałbrzych.
After the screening there will be a meeting with the filmmakers.
The film is co-financed by the Local Government of the Lower Silesian Lower Silesian Film Fund.
