Lagos Thugs (NG)

With infectious polyrhythms, massive fan arrangements and a sizzling collective energy, Lagos Thugs offers a classic and fresh take on the afrobeat tradition. The young 10-person orchestra from Lagos has distinguished itself in just a few years as one of Nigeria's most immersive live bands, where improvisation, groove and political awareness reach beyond the edge of the stage and invite the audience up to dance. Expect a bang of a concert with the Lagos Thugs on Oct.

Since the Lagos Thugs were formed in Nigeria's capital in 2020, the orchestra has in record time marked itself as one of its country's absolute best live bands. Drawing on the iconic expression of the afrobeat genre and clearly traced back to legend Fela Kuti, the band lets hypnotic polyrhythms, hot winds, improvisation and call-response unfold through long, life-affirming tracks, creating a direct connection between musicians and audiences. In concert with Lagos Thugs, the energy is constantly in motion and the dance floor a common rallying point.

In 2024, Lagos Thugs released their critically acclaimed debut album “CHAOS”, which cemented the band's position on the contemporary afrobeat scene. The music revolves around themes of power, injustice, freedom, and African identity, and perpetuates the historical role of afrobeat as both protest music and collective rallying point. The band has shared stage with names such as Ezra Collective, Seun Kuti, Made Kuti, Egypt 80 and Antibalas, and in 2026 they embark on an extensive tour of Africa and Europe. Luckily they also hit ALICE and we can't wait!
