The Slovenian industrial-cult band Laibach occupies the Bremen Theater
In 1980 in the Slovenian mining town of Trbovlje, Laibach saw the light of day.
It was the start of a long and controversial career for the Slovenian cult band, which has since achieved a cult status with dedicated fans worldwide. The band has released a wide range of albums ranging widely from industrial to avant-garde, embracing everything from eccentric reinterpretations of familiar western songs, dark wave, electronic soundscapes and samples from classical music.
The common thread, however, has always been the entrenched, systems-critical thinking that still pervades their broad-embracing musical palette. It has drawn the band into a myriad of controversies, entailing a ban in what was then Yugoslavia, which was only lifted when Slovenia gained independence in 1991, where Laibach have since been hailed as culture-icons.
On October 11, the cult band will return to the Bremen Theater, where they previously filled the hall in 2023.
