doll

Just two weeks after the premiere of the series “Dolls”, a film adaptation of the novel by Bolesław Prus hits the screens. Two new interpretations of the same work were created almost simultaneously — so it is worth seeing how differently the creators looked at the history of Stanisław Wokulski and Izabela Łęcka. Will Maciej Kavalski's film show a well-known novel in a completely new light?

Warsaw at the end of the 19th century. Stanisław Wokulski, a wealthy merchant, falls in love with Izabela Łęcka — a beautiful aristocrat struggling with the specter of financial ruin. Wanting to win her hand, he decides to enter the world of the higher spheres. It is a story of love, ambition, social division and unfulfilled dreams.

Directed by: Maciej Kawalski
Starring: Marcin Dorociński (Stanisław Wokulski), Kamila Urzedowska (Izabela Łęcka), Marek Kondrat (Ignacy Rzecki)
Production: Polska, 2026
