One of the most important stories in Polish literature returns to the big screen in a completely new version. We invite you to the screening of “Dolls” directed by Maciej Kavalski — a spectacular adaptation of the novel by Bolesław Prus, which combines the timeless story of love, ambition and social divisions with the splendor of contemporary cinema.

In the center of the story is again Stanisław Wokulski — an entrepreneur, idealist and a man torn between reason and affection for Izabela Łęcka. His attempt to gain a place in the world of the Warsaw aristocracy becomes a story of great love and unfulfillment, but also of aspirations, money, class differences and a society in a moment of transformation.

The new “Doll” attracts attention with a truly stellar cast. Stanisław Wokulski is played by Marcin Dorociński, and Izabela Łęcka is played by Kamila Urzedowska, known among others for the Oscar nominees “Chłopów”. On the screen we will also see Marek Kondrat, who after 16 years returns to the cinema in the role of Ignacy Rzecki, and in addition, among others Agata Kulesha, Andrzej Seweryn, Maja Komorowska, Maria Dębska and Karolina Gruszka.

The director is Maciej Kawalski, a creator known for, among others, the film “Dangerous Gentlemen”. The photos were prepared by renowned cinematographer Piotr Sobociński Jr., costumes by Katarzyna Lewińska, and music by Łukasz Targosz. The preparations for the realization lasted two years, and the creators bet on spectacular scenography, costumes and momentum worthy of a large historical production.

It is an opportunity to see the story known from school reading anew — not only as a romance between Wokulski and Łęcka, but also as a story about obsession, social advancement, inequality and the desire to find one's place in the world.
