“Doll” directed by Maciej Kawalski (“Dangerous Gentlemen”) is a super-production and the most star-studded film in the history of Polish cinema. It is a gripping tale of crazy love, social aspirations and ruthless play of interests in nineteenth-century Warsaw.
The film tells the story of Stanisław Wokulski — an entrepreneur who, thanks to his acquired fortune, tries to enter the world of the upper classes in order to win the heart of the noble aristocrat Izabela Łęcka. At his side stands his faithful friend Ignacy Rzecki, watching how the world of old ideals gives way to new realities.
Starring Marcin Dorociński, star of “Chłopów” Kamila Urzedowska and Marek Kondrat, returning to the big screen after 16 years. The unique visual setting and dense atmosphere of the era are created by the delightful photographs of Piotr Sobociński Jr. and the scenography and costumes refined to the smallest detail.
