Screening of the film DOLL with English subtitles.

For nearly 140 years, the work of Bolesław Prus has been igniting the emotions and imagination of subsequent generations. Now this timeless story hits the big screen in a spectacular new cinematic installment. “Lalka” is a hugely successful superproduction and the most star-studded film in the history of Polish cinema, featuring, among many prominent names, in the lead roles: Marcin Dorociński as Stanisław Wokulski, the star of “Chłopów” — Kamila Urzedowska as Izabela Łęcka and Marek Kondrat returning to the big screen after 16 years in the role of Ignacy Rzecki. The new film adaptation of “Dolls” is a poignant, universal story told with a contemporary sensibility about love and unfulfillment, about aspirations and transformation, about a world that is just ending. It's a film that happens once every few decades: epic, full of emotion, made with impressive scenography, costumes and makeup worked out to the smallest detail, and a truly stellar cast.
