In a sleepy village somewhere in a Korean province, a series of violent and shocking deaths occur — perhaps murders. As if that were not enough, some of the inhabitants begin to reveal signs of a mysterious disease, leading to madness. At the head of the investigation is the good-natured, sluggish Jong-goo, whose professional routine has so far been limited to getting off at the police station and “patrolling” the area. He is completely unprepared to conduct such a complicated investigation, and it will be very important for him when his beloved daughter also begins to show symptoms of possession. The unpredictable scenario and visual effects create a tension thanks to which “Lament” will electrify every viewer. The film had its screening at the 69th Cannes International Film Festival.
