How do you explain the sound of the ocean to someone who has never heard it? Surfer and professional photographer Lilly Bertrand-Webb has always felt like she exists in the liminal space between two worlds. One of the first children in the UK to receive a life-changing cochlear implant, her camera, from an early age, became her way of capturing and communicating with the world. Shot in sumptuous 16mm, this is a beautiful, intimate and life-affirming portrait of two sisters exploring previously uncharted waters around the duality of their lives and the very nature of sound. Winner of the Women of the Sea Film Fund presented by Finisterre.

Winner of Brest Surf Film Festival best short presented by Brittany Ferries and screening as part of our cultural exchange celebrating our deep relationship with our friends across the water, this showcase of deep barrels and peeling points will have you packing your bags and decamping to Brittany for the season. Sorry Ian!
