Laputa: The Castle in the Sky/Sky Cinema

The girl Sheeta descends one night from the sky, right into the arms of the boy Pazo. She has fallen off an airship, but soars thanks to a magical jewel that pirates, military and mysterious agents alike are eager to get their hands on. For it can lead to Laputa, the rich castle in heaven about which Pazo's father has always raved. Soon Sheeta and Pazo are on a wild run with a band of pirates and a charismatic grandmother at their heels.

The film is classic Miyazaki, with jaw-dropping 'Indiana Jones'-like chase sequences, twin-bang and colorful villains, but also quiet dream sequences and plenty of food for thought about nature, the environment and humanity. Fans of the steampunk genre hail the film's industrious use of old steel, huge airships and steam-powered robots.
