What does nature look like in winter, when it is white, frosty and quiet outside the window? Do the plants then rest, or perhaps fall into hibernation? And is it possible to create your own forest, which will be green even in the middle of winter?
During the workshop at ECS, children will discover what the world of plants looks like in winter and what happens to nature when the colder weather arrives. The most important part of the class will be creating your own forest in a jar — a small, self-sufficient ecosystem that the children will take home with them. Together we will plant plants, lay out layers of earth, stones and moss, creating a miniature world of nature enclosed in glass.
During the course of the Between Trees series, we embark on a journey into the world of plants — we will learn their secrets, learn to recognize them and find out how we can help nature on a daily basis. We sow, plant, experiment and ask questions, because in nature every answer leads to another discovery. It is not only fun, it is also the first steps in building a relationship with nature and responsibility for the environment. We know that caring for the planet starts at home, so we create a space to explore together, talk and be close to nature together.
