Late Night Poems featuring Bartłomiej “Eskaubei” Skubisz, which we will hear on the Blue Note stage, reaches for something that is still rare in Polish jazz — an authentic dialogue between the spoken word and improvisation.
The band consists of top Polish jazz musicians: Piotr Lemańczyk, Marek Konarski, Michał Szkil and Dawid Fortuna. Late Night Poems is a more poetic version of the actions of Bartłomiej “Eskaubei” Skubisz, constituting a hybrid of acoustic jazz with spoken word in the formula “jazz & poetry”.
After the well-received album “Ostatni Dzień Lata” (U Know Me Records), the band returns with material recorded in a formula that has no analogues on the domestic music scene.
“Rise & Bloom is an album that is sincere, sometimes even very intimate. [...] It's an invitation to stop, listen and empathize. Late Night Poems prove that in a world of haste and excess, you can create music that grows slowly — but flourishes intensely.” — Piotr Wojdat Jazz Forum.
Band composition: Bartłomiej “Eskaubei” Skubisz — word Marek Konarski — saxophones Michał Szkil — piano Piotr Lemańczyk — double bass Dawid Fortuna — drums
The freedom of joint creation in the spirit of Wanye Shorter's musical philosophy meets here with the individual, mature language of each of the instrumentalists and words in which sincerity and emotion prevail over chiseling and calculation.
