Latin Film Fest: Poet

Oscar Restrepo's obsession with poetry did not bring him the glory and brilliance he dreamed of. Dreams of fame and life in poetic bohemia cast a shadow over his life. Until he meets teenage Yurlady, a girl whose words form into poetry with an ease directly proportional to the hardships of her life. However, drawing her into the crazy world of poets may not be the best idea... “The Poet” is a bitter comedy-drama about desires, the need to help someone - and at the same time yourself - and how much our dreams do not have to be someone else's needs.

The film was a Colombian Oscar nominee, received numerous awards, including Cannes, San Sebastian and the Mexican Ariel Award, and nominations for the Goya and Platino awards. Cinematographer Juan Sarmiento G. (including “The Voice of Hind Rajab”) is responsible for the unusual atmosphere of the film.

Film presented as part of the Latin American Cinema Festival Latin Film Fest.
