Healthy exercise for everyone
We learn about art through its contemplation and experience. Similarly, we delve into the conscious movement of the body — qigong, finding comfort for the mind and body. With this in mind, with the Dantian Foundation, we invite you to a series of open classes “Qigong in the museum — health-promoting exercises for everyone”.
Qigong (pronunciation: chi gong) is an ancient form of exercise that combines the training of the mind and body. It consists of a combination of mindful movements, meditative state of mind and breathing techniques.
The word “qigong” comes from the Chinese words “qi”, which refers to the energy found in everything (the universal life force) and “gong”, which means an acquired ability. Therefore, qigong translates as “working with energy and developing skills.” Practically qigong works by accumulating and using energy to increase one's own impact on health, well-being and vitality.
Classes are open and open to all. Qigong is an excellent form of physical activity for people of all ages and fitness levels, they are highly modifiable, flexible exercises.
Please bring clothes that do not restrict movement, comfortable shoes with flat soles and drinking water.

What are the benefits of qigong?
Qigong has recently become very popular around the world due to the health benefits it gives to practitioners: it can give everyone something different, depending on the purpose for which the exercises are performed. Most often, exercisers talk about a feeling of peace and quiet, pain relief, and a sense of increased energy and vitality. Moving along with even breathing helps blood circulation and massage internal organs, supports the functioning of the circulatory and immune systems. As an exercise that adjusts awareness and attention to movement, qigong provides great mental, emotional and physical benefits.
How can we use qigong exercises?
·More relaxation, less stress
The inner nature of qigong exercises has a great effect on calming the mind. Reducing stress and the relaxing nature of exercise leads to improved sleep, relieves neck and shoulder pain, and lowers blood pressure. It also helps relieve depression and anxiety. Increased relaxation and sleep result in an increase in energy, helping to fight fatigue and burnout. Inner anxiety decreases and self-confidence increases.
In everyday life, we are faced with various scenarios that can cause stress. The weekly form of classes in the Lorentz Courtyard is a great opportunity to take care of the silence. It's amazing what just an hour of exercise can do.
·Physical fitness
Typical of qigong opposites — moderate exercise and active relaxation build a strong physical foundation. Repeating simple poses and movements is a good way to strengthen your muscles, and the unique use of static positions also helps to strengthen structural muscles, balance and flexibility.
It is a method to discover the inspiring depth of the human need for movement.
·Live more
Qigong as a form of conscious movement supports our inner sensitivity, helps to open the mind and heart to the world. The ideal solution is to combine training in the Lorentz Courtyard with visiting exhibitions and getting to know the collections in the Main Building of the National Museum in Warsaw.
