Satellite town, cemetery, sleeping town, satellite town, local recreation area, concrete desert, imperial hunting area, zone border, focal point, periphery, problem area, bird sanctuary, utopia and dystopia: Welcome to Berlin's Gropiusstadt! In its recent history, the Gropiusstadt experienced many references and attributions, was a discussion of a wide variety of plans and was often the victim of disdainful devaluations. Inspired by Georges Perec's novel “Life Instructions for Use”, the theatre work by Gropiusstadt artist Arthur Romanowski and his team focuses on the story (s) of the people who live and work there. How did they end up here? Which stories shape one? What kind of life instructions does Gropiusstadt have for us?

In intensive research, the team conducted interviews with residents of Gropiusstadt. The biographies are put together to form a separate mosaic and are combined with the biography of the director and performer. In this way, the audience encounters a wide variety of stories from Gropiusstadt and creates their own image of Berlin in the 20th and 21st century.

The team from “Life Gropiusstadt User Guide” would like to contribute to strengthening the infrastructure in Gropiusstadt as part of production. We would be pleased if you would also help out and support the work of the RosaMinta* association with a donation.

RosaMinta* is an open meeting place for girls, inter*, non-binary, trans* and active children and adolescents (MINTA*) between the ages of 12 and 22 in Gropiusstadt. The association's work focuses on preventing violence, protection concepts and strengthening self-confidence and self-assertion. Due to rising costs, the association urgently needs help for: material resources, coverage of personnel costs, implementation of free trips for visitors, extracurricular assistance: individual homework and tutoring, homeschooling support.

The ADDITION TICKET supplements the ticket purchase with a voluntary addition. This is how you support artists and our special community formats. More info
