LIARS

Liars unfold their experimental rock in Ideal Bar

This year, the album Drums Not Dead can celebrate its 20th anniversary and parts of the album can be experienced live when, on October 24, Liars occupies the Ideal Bar.

Behind Liars is Australian composer and producer Angus Andrew, who since 1999 has used the project as a musical laboratory of constant change. Over more than two decades, Liars has moved across genres and expressions, with each album opening doors to their own sonic universe of indie rock, punk and electro.

At its centre stands a curiosity about the possibilities of music, where field recordings, improvisation and experimental studio work are intertwined in compositions that reimagine song, structure and sound. The music is unpredictable, exploratory, and does not lend itself to one particular form.

On stage, Liar's experimental universe unfolds as Angus Andrew, along with an ensemble of musical collaborators, allows immersive sound and performance to merge. Here, the songwriter's uncompromising urge to challenge the framework of the music translates into a live experience where you never quite know what to expect.
