Born in Barranquilla on Colombia's Caribbean coast, Lido Pimienta, after more than 15 years on stage, established himself as an artistic voice that insists on rethinking identity, belonging and cultural heritage. Her breakthrough came with the 2017 album “La Papessa”, which united DIY attitude, alternative electronica and Afro-Colombian traditions. The album received the prestigious Polaris Music Prize and placed Pimienta among the most distinctive voices on the international music scene. Since then, she has continued her artistic development with the critically acclaimed “Miss Colombia” (2020), in which cumbia, dembow, chamber music and electropop form the framework of a deeply personal reflection on beauty ideals, colonial structures and life as a Caribbean woman with Wayuu roots. When the world shut down in 2020, Pimienta threw herself into classical music and, among other things, wrote Lux Aeterna for New York City Ballet as the first woman of color ever.

On the upcoming album “Caribenya”, which she releases for July, Lido Pimienta gathers all the threads from her career so far. Here lush orchestrations, soaring ambient surfaces, pop sensibility and vibrant Caribbean rhythms come together in a work that both pays homage to her Afro-Hispanic and Afro-indigenous heritage while pointing razor-sharp into the future. The first two singles set the mood when Pimienta alluringly and epically unites equal parts resistance, care and radical beauty. Look forward to a beautiful and empowering evening with an artist at the peak of his work when Lido Pimienta guests ALICE for October.
